Getting around town

Santa Cruz's different sections and neighborhoods are connected at odd angles and are not aligned with the points of the compass. Though your sense of direction is truly uncanny, you will be grateful to have good maps in the car.

Also, please be aware that we are getting married on Labor Day weekend, which means there will be extra traffic from all the happy beach-goers. Please leave time for the traffic, and accept our apologies!

Getting to and from Santa Cruz

You can fly into San Francisco (about 1.5 hours drive) or San Jose (about 30 minutes drive). As we mentioned, this is going to be Labor Day weekend, and as a popular regional beach town, traffic into Santa Cruz can get very busy on these sorts of holiday weekends. Therefore the main road over the mountains from San Jose to Santa Cruz (Highway 17) is likely to be a parking lot on Friday afternoon and evening...maybe even Friday morning. Folks driving from the San Francisco airport to Santa Cruz should check the traffic reports and maybe consider the coastal route, following 380 west to 280, 280 south to 92, 92 west to 1, 1 south to Santa Cruz. Also, this coastal drive is very beautiful, and is really something to see for first-timers to Northern California.
