Lay of the land: Ocean Street is the main artery into and out of town, and it's also our main hotel row. On a holiday weekend it can take some serious time to cover half a mile on Ocean. Three of our recommendations are on Ocean Street, but they are right at the very-useful crossroad of Soquel Drive, so that traffic concern is greatly reduced. There are plenty of hotels (some independents and all the usual brands) a few block further north on Ocean Street, but then Ocean Street traffic may become bothersome. Fortunately the three at the corner of Soquel look to be among the best.
Best Western Plus - All Suites Inn is a business-traveller sort of modern, spacious hotel with relatively good prices on their basic rooms. They offer suites for families. Bright indoor atrium for socializing. Easy walk to our lovely downtown Pacific Avenue.

The Mission Inn is a charming locally owned and operated place in a commercial district on the west side of town. The rooms and windows are a little smaller and less modern. A landscaped garden area is for socializing.
